The confession must be voluntary and made without coercion or duress. Once a confession is made, it can be used as evidence in a criminal trial to establish the defendant's guilt. However, the confession must be corroborated by other evidence to ensure its reliability. **

Protestants do not have the practice of confession as it is not a sacrament in their tradition. Protestants believe in the direct relationship between the individual and God, and they can confess their sins directly to God without the need for a priest as an intermediary. They emphasize personal repentance, prayer, and seeking forgiveness from God rather than through the sacrament of confession. Protestants also prioritize the authority of the Bible over the authority of the church hierarchy in matters of faith and practice. **
